Securing SQL Networking
Any and All respectable web platforms now days use a database of some sort. Usually, for LAMP installs, that would be MySQL or MariaDB.
Under the AWS free tier, we are actually able to run a free RDS with MSSQL, MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL.
We are going to focus on the ports for Mysql / MariaDB communication. These are the databases used by most open source web technologies like WordPress.
We needed to wait for our Instance to Launch so we can edit the Security Groups in better detail.
Now that our Instance is running, go to the EC2 Dashboard.
Look in the menu on the left under Network & Security and click Security Groups:
